VIDEO Arad: Ferrari driver, detained after being caught driving under the influence of drugs

Cosmin Mladin, the leader of an alleged group specializing in cigarette smuggling, was detained by police in Arad on Saturday after biological samples collected three weeks ago indicated that he was driving under the influence of drugs, local publications Aradon and SpecialArad report.

The man was stopped on April 9 while he was behind the wheel of his Ferrari car, which had been impounded following searches in 2021. As he refused to be tested with the equipment provided, he was taken to a medical facility for the collection of biological samples, according to IPJ Arad. Also, his car was raised on the platform and made unavailable by the police.

“On April 26, the Road Bureau received the bulletin with the results of the analyses, showing that the man was under the influence of psychoactive substances,” states IPJ Arad.

Thus, a criminal file was drawn up by the police, regarding the commission of the crime of driving under the influence of psychoactive substances.

“On April 27, the 37-year-old man was detained for 24 hours, for committing the crime of driving under the influence of psychoactive substances,” the IPJ reports.

Cosmin Mladin became known following the raids coordinated by DIICOT, on July 13, 2021, which targeted 157 locations in the municipality of Arad and in 8 other counties, at an organized criminal group, specialized in cigarette smuggling and money laundering. He managed to escape two hours before the raids and was put on a national manhunt.

Finally, Cosmin Mladin was found on July 23, 2021 in a building in Arad and taken into custody. In December of the same year, Mladin was placed under house arrest, after the authorities replaced his pretrial detention.
