Paula Seling was the winner of the Mamaia Festival in 1997, and then she was tempted to move permanently to France in 2003. However, her love for her family and her native places led her to stay in Romania. After her initial success, Seling continued to devote herself to education, completing degrees in Journalism, Music Composition and a Masters in Pop Music Cultures. The artist received unconditional support from her family in pursuing her musical career.

She expresses her pride in her origins and intends to promote Romanian culture and music internationally. “When I won the Mamaia Festival, in 1997, they insisted that I do another college, and that was Journalism. Then, I did the Conservatoire, in the Composition section, then I followed the master’s courses in Pop Music Cultures and finished the pedagogical module. As my path was paved to make music, my parents did nothing but support me and see how their daughter is going on the right path, of which they will always be proud.

In 2003, I wanted to go to France, but I could not leave behind my family and the places where I grew up. I am proud of my origin and I want, if I succeed, to take Romanian music abroad, so that everyone knows where I come from, where I grew up, the traditions of my area.”said Paula Seling, for Viva!

Paula Seling prides herself on putting soul into her musical creations and music as a means of soothing the souls and an authentic expression of her emotional states. “I worked a lot and managed to combine the gifts from God with enormous work and make use of what was given to me. Nothing without God, nothing without work. Everything happens when your efforts are rewarded with appreciation, beautiful words… I am proud that, all these years, I put my heart and did everything for people to appreciate me through music. And, here, I think I have done and am doing something pleasant, notable, but also lasting.
