The President of the Galati County Council, Costel Fotea, announced on Friday, in a press conference, that he succeeded, after months of negotiations regarding the construction of the Galati-Brăila International Airport, to pass a very important stage, namely, obtaining at ROMATSA of the airspace delimitation agreement, according to Agerpres.
Galati-Brăila International Airport will have 9 boarding gates
The airport has a passenger terminal with an area of 28,500 square meters and a cargo terminal with an area of approximately 5,500 square meters.

For maximum efficiency, the control tower will be integrated into the passenger terminal, which will have 9 boarding gates.
The runway will be 3,500 meters long, just like the airports in Otopeni, Timisoara and Constanţa.
The airport will have a promenade and an exhibition area
According to the specialists’ calculations, the airport, which is included in Romania’s General Transport Master Plan, will have an area of 250 hectares, to which is added an area reserved for public investments of approximately 115 hectares.

“It will be a modern airport, which will take over from the city’s identity, recreating a promenade area similar to the Danube Embankment.
The airport will be built according to a ‘green’ concept, with a lot of vegetation on the facades and inside, being equipped with the latest generation technologies, for reduced consumption, increased comfort for passengers, efficient from the point of view of costs and polluting emissions as low as possible.

It will be the only airport in Romania with an exhibition space, where passengers will be able to admire different exhibitions and participate in a multitude of cultural events”, added Fotea.
What modern systems will the new airport have?
Galati-Brăila International Airport will be equipped with multiple equipment, systems and installations: photovoltaic panels, intelligent lighting installations, charging stations for electric cars, video surveillance and analysis system based on artificial intelligence (detection of abandoned luggage or vehicles that moving in the wrong direction), runway surveillance system (human or vehicle presence detection), state-of-the-art cabin baggage scanning equipment (will allow laptops to be stored in baggage), automatic boarding pass check gates and system automation of the technical area.
