The Radiotherapy Section of the Galati Emergency County Clinical Hospital “St. Apostol Andrei” will benefit from a software based on artificial intelligence specialized in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer, the funds necessary for this investment being approved during the last meeting of the Galati County Council (CJ) .
“The patient will start the treatment much faster with the linear particle accelerator, and the doctor will have more time for the patients, the contouring part being taken over by this software. Everything for the benefit of the patients. That’s why we equip the Radiotherapy department with the latest generation technology Basically, the software outlines the organs that should not be affected by the radiotherapy procedures, so that only the tumor is irradiated”, said Costel Fotea, the president of the Galați County Council.
The software, based on artificial intelligence, takes over a good part of the doctor’s work, managing to perform in just 30 minutes an activity that would otherwise have taken several hours. The time gained in this way means that more patients will be able to be treated with the two linear accelerators at Galati County Hospital.
