Although Bucharest is the capital of Romania and has several million inhabitants, there are cities in the country that have a much larger area and an incomparably smaller population, one of which is from Gorj. Thus, the capital has an area of 240 square kilometers, with a degree of construction of 70%, but the city in Romania with the largest area, in documents, is Broșteni, from Suceava. It is over 590 square kilometers and has less than 6800 inhabitants. Vișeul de Sus and Săcele, from Brașov, follow in the respective ranking, followed by Petrila, from Hunedoara, with over 308 kmp. With an area of 307.79 square kilometers, Tismana, from Gorj, also manages to surpass Bucharest in terms of the area it occupies administratively. Tismana has a larger area than Cisnădie, Brașov, Ciacova, Uricani or Târgu Lăpuș, which have between 277 and 247 km2. Bucharest remains on the 1st place, according to the statistics, in terms of population, with 1.9 million inhabitants, while Tismana has 6,359, down from 7,035, which were registered in the 2011 census. On the Tismana City Hall website, the number of inhabitants shown is 7839 people.
