Iulian Dumitrescu submitted his candidacy for CJ Prahova: A decision I made alone. It’s a fight with PSD Prahova, they are desperate to get their hands on the county

After submitting his candidacy for a new mandate as head of the Prahova County Council, although he is accused of bribery, Iulian Dumitrescu came to the Police to sign the judicial review in his file. He allegedly took 16 million lei in bribes. Iulian Dumitrescu made a statement on Antena 3 CNN where he allegedly suggested that PSD is behind his legal problems.

“A fight we are waging with the PSD in Prahova”

“Yesterday I submitted my candidacy for a new mandate as president of the County Council. I said that it was a personal decision, it was not an easy decision, but I did not make it alone. I consulted with the mayors, I- I consulted with my colleagues from Prahova, and there are two directions here. On the one hand, I should feel what the citizens of Prahova want and figure out if they want me to run again, and on the other hand, there is a struggle that we are taking it to Prahova. There is a PSD that is de facto led by the Cosma clan. Yes, there are people who support me among the citizens. Otherwise, I wouldn’t run for it that the PSD is desperate to get their hands on the county and then they resort to manipulations, spontaneous protests, blackmail, threats, complaints and the whole arsenal they have a certain reputation in Prahova. I can tell you that I am not going to let them get their hands on Prahova and I am not going to let them ruin some vital projects for the people of Prahova that we have built in the last 3 years”, declared Iulian Dumitrescu.

The General Secretary of the PNL, Lucian Bode, notified the Court of Arbitration. Does he have support from the party?

“Yes, there are procedural issues here. I think you can ask your party colleagues whether they support me or not. Beyond the support from the center, you realize that there are enough colleagues and you have seen them in the public space, I was interested in the first the support of those from Prahova that I go there to vote. It’s in vain that someone from Baia Mare doesn’t support me. You must know that after discussions with the mayors, with colleagues, 6 mayors from other parties came in PNL. This means something at a time when I really have a problem that you also know about,” said Iulian Dumitrescu.

DNA forbids you to exercise your position in the County Council. Doesn’t that prevent you from continuing to head CJ if you win?

“And here is a confusion. I am being investigated and I am under judicial control. Of those investigated, later some will be sent to court, others will not be sent to court. Of those sent, some will be convicted, some will not be convicted. I am in the research phase. If you look at the political parties, I am convinced that you will find people under criminal investigation in all parties. I said that I am innocent and I say it again today. Otherwise, I would not be a candidate. I trust that those investigating the file will come to the same conclusion that I am now, that I am innocent. Anyway, these things are not done from today until tomorrow then the judiciary must do its duty”, Iulian Dumitrescu also said.
