• candidate for the presidency of the Brăila County Council, the leader of the PNL Brăila, deputy Alexandru Popa, recently spoke about his plan for the development of the county, but also of the municipality, but specifying that he will present it in stages, so that his ideas are not stolen by social democrats • the parliamentarian listed several advantages that Brăila has and on the basis of which a development strategy can be drawn up very easily • at that press conference, Popa chose to refer to the municipal stadium, claiming that from the position of president of CJ Brăila, he would build a completely new one

The president of PNL Brăila, deputy Alexandru Popa, listed some of the elements he considers worthy of consideration for the development of the county and the municipality. He held a press conference at the party’s headquarters at the end of last week, in which he recalled, among other things, why he chose to run for the presidency of Brăila County Council in the Local Elections of June 9.

“You know quite well, I am the PNL candidate for the position of president of the Brăila County Council. Why am I running? I think you all know. I am a businessman. A man who entered politics in 2020, a man who wants to make changes for the municipality and county of Brăila. I tell you, it was much easier for me to hide, – which you know quite well I never did -, to have been someone else’s candidate. But this candidacy is not only for me, as a person – Popa Alexandru -, it is to give the people of Braile the opportunity to have a healthy option, an option for change”, stated Pope.

He stated that he carefully analyzed the situation in Brăila after the Revolution from 1989 until now and came to the conclusion that instead of developing the area, it would have been destroyed by the previous administrations.

“I come from the private sector. We, the entrepreneurs, have a saying: «Are you working? Eat”. On the other hand, in the local administration run by the PSD: “You don’t work? You eat from others». The PSD is guided by this. We know quite well how all the institutions subordinated to CJ Brăila and subordinated to the City Hall were ticked. Let’s see, the biggest employers in Brăila County, I say it with shame, are CUP “Dunărea” and the County Hospital. I have seen nothing developed, only destroyed in the last 34 years,” he added Pope.

The PNL-ist stated that he has a well-structured plan aimed at the development of Brăila County, but he is going to present it in stages so as not to have his ideas stolen by the PSD-ists.

“I have a very well laid out plan. I have a development plan for Brăila County, Brăila Municipality. I have viable projects, not just buzzwords, with financing lines. How will I implement these projects? How I see the added value brought by a leader from the PNL. I walked all over this country. Know that Brăila is a very beautiful city. I’m talking strictly about the municipality and then the county. A city that probably has much more wealth than Bihor, to give you an example. Or probably also than Timișoara or Timiș County. Our only problem is the administration of this city and the county,” declared the PNL-ist.

Popa spoke in this context about several things that he sees as having great potential to develop the city. The liberal referred to the agricultural area, to the fertile lands in our area, to the Danube, but also to the Historical Center.

“I’ll give you an example: 50% of Romania’s irrigated surface is in Brăila county. We have the best grounds. We have the Danube which can be exploited both from a touristic and an industrial point of view. We have a special history. We can sell a story from a tourist point of view, all the time. We see hrubele, we see the Old Center. There are many things that we can capitalize on. But my development plan for the municipality and Brăila county will be presented in stages. Because we know quite well, the PSD administration not only steals from Braileni, it also steals ideas. I don’t want to see in their local government plan that they are proposing the same things as me”the quoted source also said.

Popa wants a new municipal stadium

Moving on, Alexandru Popa presented his first idea regarding the development of sports at the Brăila county level and claimed that if he becomes president of the county council, he will do his best to build a new municipal stadium. The deputy was on a recent visit to the Brăila Municipal Stadium, where he made a video, showing himself totally disappointed with the way this objective is presented.

“I came out with a little video. I put it on Tik Tok and Facebook. I reported the state of the municipal stadium. I was there, I want to tell you something: I thought we were in Chernobyl. All broken! Trees grown in the foundation! Something terrible! I tell you, in Brăila, if I win the County Council, I will definitely build a new stadium. Because I can put my hands on something and say: “This is made by me!”, because I did things before entering politics. And since I have been in politics, I tell you, the investments for the sports part are somewhere around 30 or so million euros. I don’t give an exact amount, so that I don’t make mistakes and then be benefited by others. But there are clear things, tangible things that can be touched and seen.” he said.

Popa took advantage of the moment to brag about the investments in the sports area made by some PNL mayors, giving the Chiscani commune as an example.

The Chiscani Stadium, the old “Chemistry” Stadium: is the first stadium built from scratch after 1990. I think that by the end of the summer that stadium will be functional. But it’s not just about the stadium. There, together with the mayor (no – Costică Cojea, the current mayor of the Chiscani commune and PNL candidate for another mandate, after he was at the PSD), we thought of a plan to develop football and children’s groups. Because I’m telling you: sport, first of all, is important when it’s practiced by a lot of people. This is how we will manage to have a healthy municipality and a way of life that is as fair as possible”he concluded Pope.
