Knife attack in the Old Center of Bucharest: A woman was stabbed by an unknown person

Knife attack in the Old Center of the Capital. A woman was stabbed by a 74-year-old man she did not know. The victim escaped with his life after hiding in a store.

Prosecutors maintain that it was a random attack.

“On 23.04.2024, around 17:16, being on a street in Bucharest, Sector 3, the defendant (a 74-year-old man) attacked the injured person with a knife ( a 57-year-old woman) causing a stab wound in the abdominal area. The victim ran away and took refuge inside a nearby store, and the defendant tried, unsuccessfully, to follow her, being spotted on the spot by the policemen from the Old Center Police Service, having the knife on him. From the existing data, there was no relationship between the defendant and the victim, the attack being a random one”, explains the Capital Prosecutor’s Office, in a press release sent on Wednesday, according to Agerpres.

The victim was transported to the hospital, where he received emergency medical care.

The aggressor was detained for 24 hours, and later a judge from the Bucharest Court ordered his preventive arrest for a period of 30 days.
