A man was detained for 24 hours, accused of high-risk drug trafficking, in a continuous form, in a file instrumented by the policemen of the Sibiu Organized Crime Service, together with the DIICOT Sibiu prosecutors, the IPJ Sibiu representatives announced on Wednesday.
Following the checks carried out, it was found that, in the period 2021 – March 2024, based on the same criminal resolution, various quantities of cannabis were procured, possessed, offered and sold to consumers in Sibiu County.
Following house searches, in buildings located in Copșa Mică and Popești Leordeni, quantities of dangerous drugs (cannabis), containers with traces of matter, a grinder, as well as other evidence were discovered and seized.
On April 23, 2024, the prosecutors of the Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism – Sibiu Territorial Office ordered the detention of the man for 24 hours.
During this day, the rights and freedoms judge of the Sibiu Court was notified, with the proposal of his preventive arrest, for 30 days.
Specialist support was provided by the Special Operations Department of the Romanian Police.
The action benefited from the support of the fighters of the Service for Special Actions within the Sibiu County Police Inspectorate and the gendarmes of the Special Intervention Brigade of the “Vlad Țepeș” Gendarmerie.
“We make it clear that, throughout the entire criminal process, the investigated persons benefit from the procedural rights and guarantees provided by the Code of Criminal Procedure, as well as the presumption of innocence,” states the quoted source.
