The problem of stray dogs started to gain momentum in Cluj. For some time, their number has grown considerably.

“Between April 18 and 23, the police officers from the Bureau for the Protection of Animals carried out activities to prevent and combat illegal acts against animals, as well as to ensure compliance by their owners with the relevant legal norms.

Thus, during the mentioned period, checks were carried out on animal owners, which led to the application of 50 contraventional sanctions, in the amount of 25,000 lei, of which 31 were for violations of GEO no. 155/2001 for the approval of the stray dog ​​management program, 14 in accordance with the provisions of Law 205/2004 on the protection of animals, and another 5 for other violations.

The checks targeted 61 animal owners, as well as 3 goat, sheep and cattle farms”, transmits ISU Cluj.

Also, 20 UATs were identified as well as the local deliberative authority with attributions regarding the management of animals against which it was decided to issue the order to shelter animals in a state of danger, circumscribed by the provisions of GEO no. 155/2001 regarding the approval of the stray dog ​​management program, respectively art. 24^3 of Law no. 205/2004 on the protection of animals, against which legal measures will be taken.
