A Policeman From Iasi Denounced The Fourth Bribery Attempt In One Month. Refused 100 Euros From A Driver

The Police Agent from IPJ Iași, Section 10 of the Ruginoasa Rural Police, who was with another colleague, notified the Anti-corruption Call-center System 0800.806.806 of the General Anti-corruption Directorate, claiming “an act of bribery”, after stopping a car for a routine check.

“He signaled the fact that a citizen stopped in traffic initially promised them 100 euros each, in order not to be penalized for violating Law 61/1991, as he refused to provide identification. Later, he actually offered them the sum of 100 euros”, the DGA said.

The two police officers refused the offer, and one of them reported the driver. The moment was filmed with the body-worn camera, located on the reporting policeman, and the images are with the case prosecutor.

The same police-whistleblower reported 3 other similar facts to the anti-corruption call center in the last month, according to the DGA.
