Marius Avram welcomes Istvan Kovacs’ deputation for the final tournament in Germany and admitted he expected it for the 39-year-old referee.
The former great referee believes that the performance is an extraordinary one for Kovacs, who just refereed the derby between FC Barcelona and PSGfrom the Champions League quarters.
The European Championship – Germany 2024 will take place between June 14 and July 14.

Marius Avram believes that the good performances made Istvan Kovacs reach the “table of the rich”, alongside the most important referees in Europe.
Vasile Marinescu and Ovidiu Artene will be Istvan Kovacs’ assistants at this summer’s European Championship.
“For Istvan Kovacs first of all it is an extraordinary performance to be present at the Euros after being in the squad for the World Championship.
Seeing the delegations on a European level, the presence on the final list is a confirmation of the good performances there and from this point of view it is a nomination I expected”, said Marius Avram, for ProSport.
Contested by the Spanish, Kovacs was defended by the French after the tense duel in Barcelona. “What can you fault them for? Artur Soares Dias (Portugal), Jesus Gil Manzano (Spain), Marco Guida (Italy), Istvan Kovacs (Romania), Ivan Kruzliak (Slovakia), Francois Letexier (France), Danny Makkelie (Netherlands), Szymon Marciniak (Poland ), Halil Umut Meler (Turkey), Glenn Nyberg (Sweden), Michael Oliver (England), Daniele Orsato (Italy), Sandro Scharer (Switzerland), Daniel Siebert (Germany), Anthony Taylor (England), Clement Turpin (France) , Slavko Vincic (Slovenia), Felix Zwayer (Germany) are the European referees from the final tournament. They will be joined, from Argentina, by Facundo Tello, along with two assistant referees.
