Mayor Emil Boc says that he is being pressured to issue more building permits, but he is not giving in. All this game played by the mayor, who says that he will issue authorizations when the Metropolitan Belt is ready, only brings the square meter built in Cluj-Napoca to 3000 euros.

The city must be prepared for this development. Cities that do not prepare now will enter a trap of underdevelopment, meaning they will no longer have a chance to maintain the level of quality of life they have now.

There are many people on the market today, directly interested in destroying the quality of life by supporting these policies of agglomeration of Cluj, by building permits anywhere and anyway, businessmen invest huge sums of money in those who are against me, because they do not I see the profit overnight. I have nothing against these people, but they need to understand that this city is not for profit. It’s as much about making a profit as it is about the people. I was not a follower of this jungle-type development, which some people are proposing to me even today, if you look carefully at the public scene in Cluj you can see who is financing or why they are financing someone in certain objectives. They say, let the jungle be Cluj and the pocket for me… But we have the obligation to have balance in Cluj, not to compromise the quality of the life we have built. I cannot agree with that, I ask for balance and measure, the ancients discovered them 2000 years ago, the middle way. We create infrastructure, to then build housing. Sopor will be that neighborhood made as per the book“, declared the mayor Emil Boc, at ZIUA LIVE.

Some, I repeat, in this city, who heavily finance those who are against me, I respect their option…I am the last person who is afraid of any pressure after how many years I have spent in public life. You can see with the naked eye who are those who finance, they have found some exponents who share the ideas along these lines, it is a democracy and I respect the opposing points of view, but it does not mean that I agree with them. I am a man of balance. There were and will be pressures, but I will not take them into account. I will defend the public interest, supporting also the private one, which goes together with the public one“, the mayor of Cluj also said.

Construction permits for large projects are blocked in Cluj-Napoca, the mayor saying that everything is related to the realization of the Metropolitan Belt, from Florești, through Făget, Bună Ziua, Borhanci, Cluj Airport and Apahida. All along this route, no permits are issued until the Belt is ready, which is only on paper, no tender. The price of the project is periodically increased, because no builder will be interested in building this vital road. Everything is a vicious circle. The more time is lost, the more expensive the work will be, but also the real estate market of Cluj becomes so expensive that it will not be profitable to come to the city on Someș.

Now it has reached a price of 3000 euros per square meter and everything will be more and more expensive, because no other buildings are appearing. Good land is extremely expensive, because developers prefer to build small blocks in neighborhoods where permits are still issued. This is how a 1,000 square meter plot in Mărăști cost 1.5 million euros.
