A man from Prahova was diagnosed with botulism after eating canned fish. He could no longer swallow or lift his eyelids.
Extremely serious case in Prahova. It’s a medical alert, after a man arrived at the hospital with botulism, an extremely rare and serious condition. Everything would have happened after he consumed two fish converses. In the first instance, he only faced digestive problems, which is why he presented himself at the hospital in Urlați, but later neurological complications also started to appear.

Initially, the doctors in Urlati, where he presented himself for the first time, prescribed treatment for his digestive symptoms, but later neurological ones also started to appear. He could no longer lift his eyelids or swallow. That is precisely why they immediately transferred him to the hospital in Ploiești.
Doctors confirmed that he was infected with botulism, and from there began a whole struggle to find the antidote.

“He was prescribed a treatment. In the following days, the neurological symptoms also appeared, i.e. he could no longer lift his eyelids and could no longer swallow. He presented himself again and was sent to our hospital with the suspicion of botulism, a suspicion that was confirmed”

The antidote was found in Chisinau
Initially, doctors could not find any dose of botulinum antitoxin in Romania. That is precisely why they decided to call on the help of hospital units in the Republic of Moldova. Thus, the antidote for the patient in Urlati came precisely from the Hospital for Infectious Diseases in Chisinau.
Moreover, it seems that at the moment, the patient’s condition has improved considerably. He has already been given two doses of botulinum antitoxin and is now waiting for the third. Even though it was not an easy fight at all, now the doctors are breathing a sigh of relief and that too because they were able to save his life.
