On Saturday, April 27, 2024, on the eve of the great feast of the Entry of the Lord into Jerusalem (Floriile), the Archdiocese of Bucharest will organize the Pilgrimage of Flowers in the Capital, which will be attended by hierarchs, priests, monks, nuns and lay believers from the country’s largest city and from Ilfov county.

This religious-missionary event is organized with the support of the “Basilica” Press Center of the Romanian Patriarchate.

The pilgrimage will start at the Radu Vodă Monastery

The Flower Pilgrimage will begin at the Radu Vodă Monastery (at 16:15) and will take place on the following route:

Mărășești Boulevard – Dimitrie Cantemir BlvdUnion square (east and north side) – St. Anthony’s Church – Curtea Veche (16:45 – first stop) – Union square (west side) – The Brancove cross (17:15 – second stop) – Hill of Joy.

The entire procession will end at Patriarchal Cathedral (around 5:45 p.m), where the pilgrims will be greeted with great joy by Blessed Father Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church.

The main moments of the pilgrimage:

  • 2:30 p.m – Vespers service at Radu Vodă Monastery;
  • 16:00 hours – at Radu Vodă Monastery will take place consecration of willow brancheswhich will then be offered to the believers present;
  • 4:15 p.m – departure in procession from Radu Vodă Monastery to Patriarchal Cathedral;
  • 4:45 p.m – stop at St. Anthony’s Church – Curtea Vechewhere the procession will be met by the priests and faithful of this church;
  • 5:15 p.m – the procession arrives at The Brancove cross from the base Hill of Joy (second stop);
  • 5:45 p.m – arrival at Patriarchal Cathedralwhere the pilgrims will be welcomed by the Blessed Father Daniel, the Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, who will consecrate the icon of the feast of the “Entering of the Lord into Jerusalem”, will say the blessing prayer for the pilgrims and will address a word of instruction.
