Open Day at the 4th “Gemina” Infantry Division

The Headquarters of the 4th Infantry Division “Gemina” in Cluj-Napoca, opened its doors on Tuesday, April 23, to hundreds of visitors, eager to enter, for one day, the universe of the armed forces.

The event, which took place between 10:30 and 14:30, was one of those included in the celebration of “Romanian Land Forces Day”. It offered visitors an immersive experience, including static displays of military equipment, weaponry and infantry equipment, as well as direct interactions with experienced soldiers.

“It’s an opportunity to be with the civilian population, to give the opportunity to those interested or curious, to get to know us, to see military equipment and weaponry, exhibited at our presentation stands. We have specialists from the special ground forces, representatives of the zonal military center, we also have a zipline for the bravest”, says Captain Oana Boier, head of the Information and Public Relations department at the Command of the 4th Gemina Infantry Division.

From artillery and military medicine, to parachuting and zipline installations, the event featured a host of displays and activities designed to provide a broad insight into the role and training of the ground forces.

Visitors also had the opportunity to explore the “Marshal Constantin Prezan” Museum, the Cluj-Napoca branch of the “King Ferdinand I” National Military Museum, located in the premises of the division headquarters.

“What I liked most was that I was holding a big gun by myself”

A large part of the visitors was represented by the children from the surrounding schools and kindergartens. They, accompanied by the teaching staff, had the chance not only to learn new information, but also to take part in various activities, such as face painting, ziplining, trying out various military equipment, getting on board the service cars, and even driving Military Band.

“I liked the military, the guns and having my face painted. I liked the most that I was holding a big gun in my hand,” says Anastasia, a second-grader.

“A lot of young and middle aged children showed up today. This day also coincides with the school week. As activities for them, we have a zip line, where our colleagues from the 317th ISR Regiment “Vlădeasa” are. They are also very interested in special operations forces. There they have the opportunity to paint a small flag on their face, and at the end we also prepared some donuts for them”, are the words of captain Oana Boier.

Those present also took part in a first aid course, conducted by the staff of the “Dr. Constantin Papilian”, Cluj-Napoca.

At the end, the little ones received a sweet snack as a reward for their patience and involvement.

The Day of the Land Forces, celebrated on April 23, is an occasion to honor and recognize the merits of this segment of the army in the defense of the country.

Having the “Holy Great Martyr George, Bringer of Victory” as spiritual patron and protector, the day is marked by various ceremonies, military parades and special events held throughout the country.

On this day, the rich history of the Romanian Land Forces and their contribution to the defense of Romania’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity are remembered. Tributes are also paid to those who dedicated their lives to military service and their sacrifice and devotion to the country is commemorated.

Army Day events provide an opportunity to highlight the capabilities and professional training of soldiers, as well as to strengthen ties between the military and the civilian community.
