In the context of the FITOS 2024 National Action Plan, the police officers of the Mureș County Police Inspectorate carry out specific activities to verify compliance with the legal provisions regarding plant protection products and environmental protection.

On Monday, April 22, the police officers of the Mureș Weapons, Explosives and Dangerous Substances Service, together with the representatives of the Mureș Phytosanitary Office, carried out 11 specialized checks, in the towns of Târgu Mureș, Luduș, Iernut, Râciu and Band, in the markets, phytopharmaceuticals and traders of phytosanitary products.

For the detected irregularities, the police applied 5 contraventional sanctions, in accordance with OG no. 41/2007 for the marketing of plant protection products, as well as for the modification and repeal of some normative acts in the phytosanitary field.

3 criminal files were also drawn up, following the finding of the commission of some offenses provided for by GEO 195/2005 on environmental protection, the investigations continuing in these cases under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Târgu Mureș Court.

Also, the police confiscated the amount of 37 liters of plant protection products, as well as 11,750 kg of chemical fertilizer, stored on the ground, in inappropriate conditions.

Also within the framework of the FITOS 2024 national action plan, during yesterday, April 23, the police officers from the 2nd Section of the Band Rural Police carried out control activities at two prominent commercial companies in the town of Band.

Following the checks, a contraventional sanction was applied, for irregularities provided by OG no. 41/2007.

Also, the police detected a crime and drew up a criminal case for the crime of “failing to take measures to completely eliminate dangerous substances and preparations, which have become waste”, an act provided for and punished by GEO 195/2005 on environmental protection.

76 bottles, 47 ampoules and 52 envelopes with fungicides, insecticides and herbicides were also seized for confiscation.
