Liviu Rebreanu Secondary School Târgu Mureș with the unconditional support of Prof. Popa Ioan Cornel, director of the educational unit, under the coordination of Prof. Eperjesi Noémi, hosted on Tuesday, April 23, the action “Together we save souls”. The activity was included in the program Green weekwith the participation of approximately 100 students from grades V-VIII

All children love animals, they connect with non-speaking creatures with such ease through tenderness and joy that adults often have to learn. Raising a child with a pet helps him learn from an early age what it means to be humble, empathetic and respectful, takes him away from self-centeredness. The animal is a responsibility. By sharing the tasks of caring for him, the child becomes more responsible and learns to take care of him, to be attentive to his feeding, when he gets sick or when he needs to be walked. Teach children to respect nature and understand the purpose of each plant, tree, insect, life!

A group of teachers from Liviu Rebreanu Secondary School Târgu Mureș acted in this sense, not only theoretically, but also practically. On April 23, from 9:00 a.m., they invited two inspectors from the Mureș Animal Protection Office, chief inspector Sonia Florea and chief inspector Feldeorean Daniel to the Mureș IPJ, among the students. The Animal Protection Bureau is the specialized structure within the Mureș County Police Inspectorate with territorial competence throughout the county in the field of activity regarding the prevention of acts of a contraventional or criminal nature that have as their object animals from the possession or personal domestic property, located in a dangerous situation, but also of captive wild animals if the keepers are authorized by the Mureș Veterinary Health and Food Safety Directorate.

“I initiated this project within the Liviu Rebreanu Secondary School to raise awareness among students and inform them of what the law provides regarding pets, respectively abandoned animals. It is a well-known fact that teachers become role models for their students. The teacher-student reaction also derives from his ability to sensitize in students that empathy towards any animal that needs help, the ability to offer that help, to take a correct attitude in the situation where they see aggression towards animals. The students will have the opportunity to ask questions, and at the end to complete a drawing designed by me, to write what they learned and what they liked most in this activity”, mentioned Prof. Eperjesi Noémi.

Discussions with police inspectors covered various aspects of the situation of dogs with and without owners: the importance of sterilization, the portrait of an ideal dog owner, legal and moral responsibilities. The common conclusion was that the plight of stray dogs on city streets must be resolved in a humane and sustainable manner. There are 5 public shelters for dogs in Mureș County, two of which are full to capacity.

They got to the Zoo, they got home

Animals who did things against their will, out of hunger or fear of being beaten. This was the circus. Tortured and stressed, far from the spotlight, they were whipped without reason and treated as mere objects. Hours upon hours of training in which the bear was forced to ride a bicycle or do you wonder what other tricks, many animals ended tragically in those dusty, brightly painted tents, kept in the heat. In 2017, Romania became the 25th country in Europe to ban the use of wild animals in circuses. After nearly six decades of domestic circus shows, the images of tigers, lions, bears, elephants or other wild animals being forced to perform acrobatics to entertain the audience have become history. Most Member States consider that the use of wild animals in circuses has no educational or cultural value and may in fact have a negative impact on public perception and respect for wild animals. However, in some countries it is still practiced.

Did you know that at the Zoo in Târgu Mureș there are animals rescued from this situation?

” We received a report that one of the elephants at the Zoo was nodding its head continuously and, yes, it is. He was left with after-effects from such aggressive treatment. And he’s not the only animal saved from circuses,” chief inspector Feldeorean Daniel tells us.

Being responsible with animals is a common sense thing that we need to emphasize in a modern civilization. Romania still has a lot to learn in this regard, but taking into account the times of ascent we are living in, we have hopes that in the future, animals will also be truly respected.

“Education starts from a young age and I propose a short reflection on the side of a parable that dates back to the 18th century.

I was walking. I see a leaf at my feet. It was half dry but gave off a very pleasant smell. I take it from below and smell it with great pleasure.

  • Why do you smell so nice, I had asked her. are you rose
  • No, he answered me. I’m not a rose, but I once lived next to a rose. That’s where the smell I’m spreading comes from,” concluded Prof. Eperjesi Noémi.

“Together we save souls” will also take place tomorrow, April 24, at the Secondary School “Dr. Bernady Gyorgy”
