Drivers who use the new road that connects the Oradea belt to the Transilvania highway complain about the frequent blocking of a portion of it, with long queues of trucks. “Small cars have nowhere to overtake TIRs and have to queue behind them for 4-5 hours,” reported one reader BIHOREAN.

“The trucks are blocking the road”

“I frequently travel Oradea-Budapest, since the new road DX 16 to Borș II has been in existence, I go there, but on Friday at 2 p.m. there were huge queues”, wrote a reader to the editorial office on Tuesday, stating that he learned from the border police that such “huge queues of TIRs” are formed “every Tuesday and Friday”.

“The problem is that the trucks block the road, because at one point there is a section that narrows to one lane and small cars cannot and have nowhere to overtake the trucks and have to queue behind them 4-5 hours,” added the driver.

Another driver published on Tuesday, on the Info Trafic Bihor & Oradea group, a photo showing trucks stuck on the road. “The new Expressway is totally blocked at the entrance to the highway,” he wrote.

“The road, for movement, not for stationary”

Contacted by Bihorthe head of the Oradea National Roads Section, Traian Bulzan, confirmed that on the new DX 16, columns of TIRs frequently form, not necessarily on Tuesdays and Fridays, but every time the TIRs leaving the country through the border crossing point are held in place by the Hungarian authorities.

“There is only one lane on DX 16 at the highway uphill loop to Borș II, and because the Hungarian authorities are delaying the control procedures at the entrance to the neighboring country, queues form from the border crossing point to Biharia, long and 3 kilometers long . The problem is not that the loop between DX and the highway has one lane, but that there are trucks stopping on that lane. The road was designed and built to be driven on, not parked on. If the loop had been made with two lanes, they would have parked on both, it was not justified to have two lanes,” said the head of SDN Oradea.

High level problem

According to him, the queues of TIRs will continue to park both on the A 3 section from Borș II to Biharia, and on DX at the highway connection as long as the Hungarian authorities will make it difficult for vehicles to move. “We can only hope that the problem of the slowness with which the Hungarian authorities are doing their work will be solved at a high level,” added Bulzan.

The queues of TIRs also appear on the Borșului Road every time the authorities of the neighboring country prohibit the movement of heavy vehicles on the occasion of holidays, for example March 15, or when they slow down border control due to malfunctions in the computer programs. On the Borșului Road, however, TIRs are obliged to stand in queues only on the first of the two lanes of the road.
