A new wave of Saharan dust has arrived in Romania.

Since the dawn of this day, a layer of fine sand has been deposited in wet form on the ground and settled on the cars after the light rains of the previous night.

The parcels would settle by noon, say meteorologists.

Galea Temneanu, director of the Iasi Environmental Protection Agency, gives us details about the situation in Iași: “As the National Meteorological Administration also predicted, our country is crossed by an air mass loaded with Saharan dust. Fortunately, this time, the fact that there was also precipitation, this Saharan dust was deposited in wet form on the ground and in this way the suspended particles PM 10 and PM 2.5 that we should have to breathe them, so we breathed clean air, but it really creates a visual discomfort, its deposition on all surfaces, including cars and vegetation, as seen. It is a phenomenon that we encounter quite often lately, but depending on the weather conditions, it may or may not influence the quality of the air we breathe. This time the rain was actually beneficial because it washed it and deposited it on the ground.”
