We are much better off than other counties

--

Sibiu County has more than 142,000 active employees, whose contributions come to socially support approximately 110,000 pensioners, unemployed and social workers. Compared to other counties in Romania, the proportion of those who work is clearly higher in our county.

According to the data of the Sibiu Territorial Labor Inspectorate, the number of active employees in Sibiu county has increased in the last two years by almost 1,300 people.

“On January 1, 2022 – the number of active employees 140,704/153,963 active Individual Employment Contracts; January 1, 2023 – 141,295 active employees / 154,890 active CIMs, resulting in an increase in the number of employees by 0.94% / active CIMs by 1.4%.

On December 31, 2023 – 142,032 active employees / 156,117 active CIMs compared to the beginning of the year, respectively January 1, 2023, the increase was 0.52% / 0.79% during the year 2023″ explained Mihaela Catană, head office within ITM Sibiu.

The data were made public during the meeting of the Prefectural College last week.

“According to the data from the general register of employees, of the total number of 15,671 active employers registered in Sibiu county on 31.12.2023, a percentage of 87.83% is represented by micro-enterprises, 9.54% by small companies, 2.16 % medium-sized companies and 0.47% large companies”, say ITM Sibiu officials.

The director of the Sibiu Pension House stated that they have approximately 99,000 pensioners on the payroll as of March 2024.

On the other hand, the Sibiu County Agency for Employment has registered, in total, almost 5,000 unemployed people, to which are added about 4,600 social workers throughout the county.

“Analyzing these figures, from all colleagues, I think we can draw the conclusion that we are a county with a healthy economy, we are doing well compared to other counties. I know for sure that there are colleagues in the country where the proportion is the opposite”, said Dorel Aldea (main photo), director of the Sibiu County Pension House.

Dorel Aldea also wanted to draw attention to an important detail.

“If you look at the figures presented by the colleagues from ITM, you see that most of the employees in Sibiu county are registered in micro-enterprises, large companies actually represent a very small percentage. I think it is very important that we do more to protect these micro-enterprises and find solutions to support them. Including from a legislative point of view. As you can see, they represent the backbone of our economy”, added Dorel Aldea.

2.43% was officially the unemployment rate recorded in the records of AJOFM Sibiu in February 2024.
