Simona Halep and the suspension for doping: “It was like a truck hit me”
Double Grand Slam champion and former WTA leader, Halep compared the shock of the announcement of the detection of a banned substance to being hit by a truck.
“It was as if a truck had hit me. When I got the email, I was like, ‘It’s a mistake. It can not be true’. Yes, it was very painful when this happened and I never thought I could live like this.
It was very, very difficult, primarily because I didn’t know how it happened. Then when I discovered the tainted supplement, it was a little better because at least you know what happened. But yes, still, it was a disaster to experience this emotion” – Simona Halepin an interview with the Tennis Channel.
