Only last night, at midnight, nine students were taken to the hospital, after they requested an ambulance to transport them from home to a health facility.

The representatives of the Louis Turcanu Children’s Hospital in Timisoara announced that of the 9 students, 7 were hospitalized, and two remained in emergency. Later, during the night and this morning, 12 other people, teachers and students, requested the ambulance with the same symptoms. A total of 15 children are currently hospitalized at this hospital.

Two other students are admitted to the Municipal Hospital and a teacher also arrived there.

Last night, at 1:00 a.m., the ISU Timis ordered a trip to the site of the intervention with 1 ASERV Dacia Duster, 1 CBRN and 6 non-commissioned officers, to identify a possible source.

At the same time, the management of the educational institution was contacted, stating that the possible source of intoxication is not known considering that there is no canteen, the high school is not connected to natural gas and no disinfection, disinsection or deratization was done. The possibility that they drank water from some dispensers located in the high school premises was also taken into account, but not all those who feel sick consumed water from these devices.

“Regarding the situation at Loga, at this time I can say that we do not know what caused the children’s symptoms. There are around 30 children, about 12 adults affected by the same symptoms. Part in boarding schools, part at home. I was on the phone all night, with ISU representatives, Loga management”, transmitted Aura Danielescu, chief inspector of ISJ Timis.

UPDATE: Classes were suspended on Wednesday at Loga

Until the cause that led to the poisoning of students and teachers is established, the decision was made to suspend classes at Loga College in Timisoara.

According to article 9, paragraph 3) and 4) letter b) of OME 4183/2022, with subsequent amendments and additions, the Regulation on the organization and operation of pre-university education units, considering it to be an objective situation, an exceptional situation, together with the management of the educational unit, at the request of the director, based on the decision of the administrative board of the unit, and notifying the Ministry of Education, we decided to suspend school classes for today“, convey the representatives of ISJ Timis

During the morning, a questionnaire was drawn up and sent to all school class groups in order to take stock of the affected children and teachers, because many just stayed at home and did not go to the hospital, but also to determine what exactly what they did every Tuesday, what rooms they were in, what exactly they ate, drank or bought, in the hope that a common element would be discovered that could reveal the mystery of intoxication.

UPDATE: There are 86 students and teachers intoxicated at this moment. 12 children remained hospitalized. New research is being done in the school by the representatives of the Timis Public Health Directorate. They take samples from the water and from the classrooms.

Several DSP teams were sent to various areas of specialization (Control Service, Laboratory, Toxicology, Radiation), water samples were taken, both from the network and from the water dispensers located within the unit. Their use was stopped until the results were obtained. Research is ongoing, currently the source of the illness is being sought“, the DSP Timis representatives send.

UPDATE: At 9:00 a.m. the Committee for Emergency Situations meets at Timis Prefecture to analyze the situation at Loga College.

At this point the children stayed at home. Teams from ISU Banat were there last night to take chemical samples, and DSP teams are also at this moment in the school to take water samples, toxicology samples and food samples. We analyze all options. At 9:00 a.m. we have a County Committee for Emergency Situations. Things are dynamic and we are monitoring them very carefully“, says the sub-prefect of Timis Sorin Ionescu.
