KARATE. The National Traditional Karate Championship for children I, II, III and IV will be held in Galati, on the weekend (April 6-7). The competitions will be hosted by the “Dănărea” Skating Rink on Saturday, from 11.00 a.m., respectively, on Sunday, at 9.00 a.m.
HANDBALL. The national cadet handball team (born 2008/09) is summoned to Baia Mare for centralized training. From here he will go to Hungary, to Siofok, for an international tour. The Romanian delegation is led by Steluța Luca from Galăța, among the 20 selected girls there is also Adnana Ancerencu, from ACS Lucian Bute Galați.
SPRING CUP. The traditional “Spring Cup” competition, organized by the Dacia Club, gathered at the start almost 80 athletes from the country’s clubs. There were competitions in four age categories. In the decisive matches, the Under 18s won: Mihnea Maftei (Danurea Galați), 6-1, 6-0 with Mihai Mironescu (Dacia Sportul Studențesc), and Elis Maria Lungu (Dacia), 7-5, 4-6, 14-12 with Narcisa Marcu (Arcade); Under 14: Albert Carp (Arcada), 6-0, 6-2 with Luca Tănase (Break TC), and Eliza Izvoranu (Brăila), 6-2, 6-1 with Caroline Ciobotaru (Dacia); Under 12: Mateo Bocăneală (Dacia/Dinamo), 3-6, 6-2, 11-9 with Ioan Mihai (Constanța), and Oana Karyna Vlase (Atlas), 6-4, 6-1 with Ingrid Ionescu (Bucharest) .
TENNIS. Gabriela Talabă Lee from Galicia (28 years old, 312 WTA) passed the first preliminary round of the tournament in Charleston (USA) by the Japanese Mai Hontama (24 years old, 120 WTA) with 5-7, 6-3, 6-4, after two hours and 24 minutes. In the final round of the qualifications, the Romanian defeated Australian Astra Sharma (28 years old, 135 WTA) 6-2, 6-3. Gabriela Lee thus secured 26 points and will play in the first round against the American Ashlyn Krueger (19 years old, 73 WTA).
