Remus Lupoiu, an anti-fraud officer from Prahova, was placed under house arrest by a decision of the Prahova Court, being investigated in a corruption case after he was denounced for taking a bribe, Incomod newspaper reports. According to sources close to the investigation, the officer was complained to Tel Verde by the very person who gave him the whip, a store owner from Comarnic.
The money was given so that the anti-fraud officer would not order the closure of the store where irregularities were discovered during an inspection of the commercial companies on Valea Prahova.
After bribing the officer, the businessman from Comarnic called Tel Verde where he announced the act of corruption.
Following the complaint, the officers of the General Anti-corruption Directorate (DGA) searched the home of the anti-fraud employee, finding the money given as a bribe.
The file was taken over by DNA Ploiești prosecutors who requested the preventive arrest of the corrupt official, but the Prahova Court decided to place him under house arrest.
