The City Hall of the Capital intends to fine drivers who enter the single lane. The measure would increase safety in road traffic, said the deputy mayor of the Bucharest municipality, Stelian Bujduveanu. The representative of the Capital City Hall claims that using public transport helps us reach our destination in a faster way.

Vice-mayor Stelian Bujduveanu mentioned that the project will be a pilot and he expects that the means of public transport will have video cameras installed. Afterwards, the images will be sent to the Local Police, who can issue fines.
“Many have tried, also in other cities in Romania. They sacrificed lanes for personal cars and created a unique lane. It is not a solution that will convince the world that public transport is a good alternative. You have to find those areas where extra lanes can be made. You define them, and I’ll tell you very concretely: from Beijing boulevard to Charles de Gaulle Square, during peak hours, you can save 20 minutes if you use public transport”, said Stelian Bujduveanu, for Gândul.
Although Romanian legislation does not allow a video surveillance system to sanction someone who violates a social norm, Deputy Mayor Bujduveanu believes that the footage must, in fact, reflect the entry of drivers into the single lane.

Recently, the Senate silently adopted a legislative proposal to amend the ordinance that regulates traffic on public roads. Thus, it is forbidden to park vehicles in cities and towns with the engine running, non-compliance with this provision being sanctioned with two or three fine points.
Exceptions to the parking ban will be vehicles that are authorized to use special warning light signals, freight vehicles that require engine power for refrigeration operation, and vehicles that actively use hydraulic/mechanical equipment, such as cement trucks, compactors etc. In this case, the Chamber of Deputies is the decision-making body.
