The crew formed by Gianina van Groningen and Ionela Cozmiuc won, today, the gold medal in the women’s double rowing event, light category, at the European Rowing Championships in Szeged (Hungary).

The Romanians finished the race with a time of 07:29.63. Greece came second (07:31.94), and Italy came third (07:33.73).

Also today, Romania’s female four-frame crew (Mădălina Bereş, Maria Lehaci, Magdalena Rusu, Amalia Bereş) won the silver medal.

The Romanians achieved a time of 06 min 55 sec 47/100, being overtaken by the crew of Great Britain (Helen Glover, Esme Booth, Samantha Redgrave, Rebecca Shorten), with a time of 06 min 53 sec 95/100, and by the Netherlands (Maartje Damen, Nika Johanna Vos, Ilse Kolkman, Willemijn Mulder), who achieved the time of 06 min 58 sec 23/100.

Last but not least, the men’s 8+1 team (M8+), composed of Mihăiță Țigănescu, Ciprian Tudosă, Florin Arteni, Mugurel Semciuc, Constantin Adam, Sergiu Bejan, Ștefan Berariu, Florin Lehaci and Adrian Munteanu won the bronze medal.

We remind you that at the 2023 edition of the European Championships, held in Bled (Slovenia), Romania won six medals, including five gold and one silver.
