Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz said on Wednesday that Poland is ready to help Ukraine “identify” men who meet the conditions for incorporation and have fled abroad, the BBC reports.

Poland’s defense minister said in an interview with PolSat television that Warsaw has long offered Kiev assistance in identifying men who are subject to mobilization. The specific forms of this assistance, according to the minister, depend on the requests of the Ukrainian side.

“I think many of our fellow citizens were outraged and are outraged when they see young Ukrainians in cafes and hear about the effort we are making to help Ukraine,” Kosinyak-Kamysh said.

“Also, it is not surprising that those Ukrainians who are at the front have justified complaints against their colleagues who have scattered around the world,” the minister added.

The TV station’s question to the minister was related to the fact that the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry announced this week the end of document processing abroad for Ukrainian citizens between the ages of 18 and 60. This measure is related to the new mobilization law recently adopted in Ukraine.

According to the Statistical Service of the European Union, in January 2024, there were about 4.3 million Ukrainian citizens in EU countries, of which about 860 thousand were men. Poland has officially granted temporary asylum to 950 thousand Ukrainians, and according to this indicator it ranks second after Germany.
