Drones of the Security Service of Ukraine hit two oil depots in the Smolensk region of western Russia between Tuesday night and Wednesday, destroying 26,000 cubic meters of fuel, official sources told the Kyiv Independent.

The attack was announced earlier by Russian officials, who said fires had broken out but there were no casualties.

According to the Ukrainian media, the warehouses attacked are from the towns of Yartsevo and Rozdorove. After the explosions, large fires broke out and staff were evacuated.

Russian forces launched a rocket attack on Odessa on the morning of April 24, and a 43-year-old woman was injured.

“At 7 o’clock in the morning, the enemy launched a rocket attack on Odesa. So far we know of one victim, a 43-year-old woman. She was taken to the hospital,” announced Oleg Kiper, the head of the Odesa region’s military administration.

During the past day, 101 battles were recorded on the battlefield in Ukraine, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced, according to Ukrinform.

Russian forces launched 5 missile strikes, 77 airstrikes and 76 MLRS strikes on Ukrainian troop positions and populated areas, according to the report.

Russian rockets damaged residential buildings and injured six people in Ukraine’s second-largest city, Kharkiv, early Wednesday, Governor Oleh Synehubov said on Telegram.

The attack affected three residential buildings, two offices, three non-residential buildings and a gas pipeline in the city’s central district, according to the governor. Some 568 windows and 33 cars were also damaged, Synehubov said.

Russia launched rocket attacks on Kharkiv in the early hours of Wednesday, April 24, destroying four residential buildings and injuring two people, Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported on Telegram.

According to Terekhov, Russian forces fired S-300 surface-to-air missiles at a residential building in the Shevchenkivskyi district of the city.

The attack also damaged a gas pipeline, leaving residents without gas in the Shevchenkivskyi district quarter.

Emergency crews are on the scene carrying out search and rescue operations.

A fire broke out at energy and fuel installations in the Russian region of Smolensk, after a drone attack launched by Ukraine, announced Vasili Anokhin, the governor of the western region, quoted by Reuters.

“Our region is again under attack by Ukrainian drones. As a result of the enemy attack on civilian fuel and energy facilities, fires broke out in Smolensk and Yartsevo districts,” Anokhin said on the Telegram messaging app.

It is not clear which installations caught fire. Reuters notes that there are no large oil refineries in the Smolensk region.

Separately, Igor Artamonov, the governor of the Lipetsk region in southwestern Russia, said a drone there fell on an industrial area.

He said on Telegram that there were no injuries, but nearby residents were evacuated as a precaution.

The Patriot anti-aircraft systems, which have shown their effectiveness against Russian missiles, can be partially manufactured and assembled on Ukrainian territory, claims the ambassador of Ukraine to the US, Oksana Markarova, quoted by the Zerkalo Nedeli publication.

According to the head of the Ukrainian diplomatic mission in the US, Kiev is discussing with Washington the possibility of transferring part of the production of Patriot systems to Ukraine.

“The (production – no) capacity can be increased, we are working on this,” Markarova said in an interview with Ukrainska Pravda.
