On an official two-day visit to Washington, President Klaus Iohannis will be received, today, at the White House by his American counterpart, Joe Biden.
The official delegation that will accompany the head of state to Washington includes the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Luminiţa Odobescu, and Deputy Prime Minister Cătălin Predoiu, the Minister of Internal Affairs.
The main topics of discussion are the situation in Ukraine and the Black Sea basin, the strengthening of security in the Euro-Atlantic area, cooperation within the Strategic Partnership with the United States and the reconfirmation of bilateral relations between the two states in several areas.
President Klaus Iohannis’ visit to the USA will be a good opportunity to reaffirm Romania’s role as a security factor and active actor in the management of international crises within the North Atlantic Alliance.
On Wednesday, during the Atlantic Council Distinguished Leadership Awards gala, the President of Romania will be awarded the Distinguished International Leadership Award for 2024, in recognition of his career and role as a transatlantic and European leader.
In the 24 years since the award was established, Klaus Iohannis is the first European head of state honored with this distinction.
