In his recent Holy Easter Pastoral, the Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, Daniel, brings to the fore an essential aspect of the Christian faith: the healing offered by the Lord Jesus Christ is not limited to the physical aspect, but has a spiritual and eternal dimension. The patriarch emphasizes that the fundamental teaching of the Christian faith is healing from sin and death, offering people the hope of eternal life through the Resurrection.

In his words, the Patriarch highlights that the healings performed by Christ during his time on earth are the expression of His love and inaugurate the Kingdom of God in the world. These are considered a prelude to the final healing, which will take place in a new heaven and earth, according to Bible prophecy.

The Patriarch also emphasizes the essential role of the Sacraments of the Church in the process of spiritual and physical healing of believers. He reminds us that the Sacrament of Penance and the Sacrament of Holy Olives are permanent sources of healing and that through the Holy Sacraments, the grace of the Most Holy Trinity works for the healing of the faithful.

In light of the proclamation of the year 2024 as law Honorary Year of Pastoral Care and Care of the Sick and Commemorative Year of All Saints of Silverless Healersthe Patriarch recalls the Church’s commitment to contribute to the relief of suffering, both through liturgical and spiritual activities, and through social and medical services.

Patriarch Daniel urges to do good deeds and to share the joy of the Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, emphasizing the importance of keeping peace and showing brotherly love.

At the end of the Holy Easter Pastoral, the Patriarch wishes everyone health, happiness, peace and joy, sending the Easter greeting “Christ is Risen!”. His message reflects pastoral wisdom and warmth, reiterating the fundamental values of the Christian faith and calling for their living in everyday life.
