Traders took full advantage of the large number of tourists arriving at the seaside during the Easter mini-holiday.

In Vama Veche, a very popular destination among young people during this period, the prices are truly hallucinatory.

The highest “taxes” are observed for sweets and snacks, where the prices of some products end up being three times higher than in regular stores, according to româniatv.ro.

For example, for 165 g Pringles chips that cost 11.99 lei at Auchan, seaside tourists have to shell out 28 lei.

If they’re craving something sweet, beachgoers have to pay exorbitant rates. Oreo biscuits cost 15 lei in a store in Vama Veche, compared to 5.5 lei in regular supermarkets, and Milka chocolate of 300 grams, which is sold at Mega for 16 lei, appears on the shelf for 40- 41 lei, depending on the assortment.

Even with a simple juice, tourists do not escape cheaper, a trivial dose of Coca-cola being sold for 9.5 lei. A can of Heineken beer normally costs 5 lei, in Customs being sold for 15.5 lei. The warranty fee for packaging is added to these, the price paid at the checkout being 10 lei for a juice and 16 lei for a can of beer.
