ACS USV Iași, the football team of the “Ion Ionescu de la Brad” University of Life Sciences in Iași, played two important matches last week, both away, one in the quarter-finals of the Romanian Cup, and the other in the IV League championship -a, both competitions being at the level of Iași county. The team prepared by player-coach Eduard Sandu aims to win the 4th League in order to compete for promotion to the 3rd League and is the holder of the Romanian Cup at the county level.
In the middle of last week, ACS USV Iași went to Țuțora for the match with the local team AS, in the quarter-finals of the Romanian Cup. The trophy holder prevailed 4-2 (3-1), its goals being scored by Tăcutanu, Şerban, Al. Marin and Danciu.
Sandu bet on the following players: Gînju – Sărițeanu, Ad. Ilie, Tăcutanu – Șova, Plop, Izmană, Păun – Cuibus, Danciu, Buzatu (Al. Marin, Șerban, Turcu, Safta and Cucoș also evolved).
The other three semi-finalists are CSM Pașcani, a team with which ACS USV goes shoulder to shoulder in the IV League standings, with 60 points each (in case of a tie at the end of the championship, ACS USV will win, thanks to the direct results – 0 -0 in Pașcani, respectively 2-1 in Agronomy), Stejarul Dobrovăț and Moldova Cristești. The draw for the semi-finals will take place after Easter.
ACS USV Iași played on Sunday in the 24th stage of the 4th League on the field of fifth-placed Victoriei Lețcani, a team which it defeated 6-2 (5-1), its scorers being Danciu (three goals) , Furtună, Chiriac and Sandu (one each).
The formation lined up by Eduard Sandu was as follows: Anton – Sărițeanu, Ad. Ilie, Tăcutanu – Matei, Danciu, Izmană, Şerban – Furtună, Al. Marin, Sandu (reserves were Șova, Chiriac, Turcu, Apreutesei and Plop).
“All the boys came ready for the game, that’s what excites me and helps me the most. We scored quickly, had the initiative and secured all three points from the first half”player-coach Eduard Sandu told us.
On Thursday, ACS USV Iasi returns home, to the Agronomie Stadium. Eduard Sandu’s team will receive from 17:00 the visit of Tonmir Iași, ranked third in the IV League, with 55 points. Dragos GAŞPAR
