In a meeting convened on the sidelines of the Special Meeting of the World Economic Forum, both parties reached an agreement to schedule the next round of the Joint Ministerial Commission meeting in Islamabad within the year.

The forthcoming Commission gathering aims to delve into market dynamics, exploring various sectors to leverage economic opportunities for tangible outcomes, as outlined in a press release.

Highlighting the significance of consistent high-level engagements, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Dar extended an invitation to the Malaysian foreign minister for a visit to Pakistan, which was graciously accepted. Such interactions serve to drive bilateral trade and investment relations forward.

Moreover, discussions centered on the pressing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, underscoring the immediate need for a ceasefire and urgent humanitarian assistance to Palestinians. Both sides stated the importance of closer cooperation within the framework of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to seek a peaceful and enduring resolution to the Palestinian issue.

The conflict in Gaza, which has escalated tensions in the region, originated with an unprecedented attack by Hamas on southern Israel on October 7.

This attack resulted in a significant loss of life, predominantly civilians, according to official figures from Israel. Israel estimates that 129 individuals seized during the October 7 attack remain captive in Gaza, including 34 who are believed to have perished.

Additionally, Israel’s retaliatory actions have resulted in a substantial loss of life in Gaza, primarily affecting women and children, according to data from the region’s health ministry.
