The first gold medal won at the European Championships in double rowing!

--

Memorable day for Romanian rowing! Enache Marian Florin and Andrei Cornea won gold at the European Championships in Szeged. This performance is all the more remarkable, as it marks Romania’s first triumph in the men’s double rowing event in the history of the European Championships.

Enache Marian Florin, from Aninoasa, Gorj, with whom we discussed more about rowing in the past (see here), managed to put Romania on the world rowing map again!

“GOLD for the men’s double rowing crew (M2x), composed of Andrei Cornea and Marian Enache, at the European Championships in Szeged. The boys led the race from the start and managed to bring the first men’s gold medal for our country at EC 2024. Congratulations”, published the Romanian Canoeing Federation.

“Romania ranks 2nd in the medal ranking at the 2024 European Rowing Championships, after Great Britain, but ahead of Italy, Norway and Germany. Our country participated in competitions with 13 crews composed of 36 athletes and won 8 medals, of which 4 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze”, the Romanian Rowing Federation posted on Facebook.

We are eagerly awaiting the Summer Olympics! We wish Enache Marian and his colleagues much success!
