Accident due to summer tires, in Satu Mare county. A mother was on the verge of being killed by a driver driving an ill-equipped car in winter. The road accident happened in the area of Moftinu Mic, and the woman was extremely seriously injured. This week the sentence also came: the guilty driver was sentenced to suspended prison, and moral damages in the amount of 40,000 euros.
According to PortalSM information, on 02.12.2019, at around 1:49 p.m., while he was driving a BMW car, on DN19, due to not adapting the speed to the snow-covered road conditions and not equipping the car for the winter season , the driver lost control over the direction of travel and entered the opposite direction entering into a side collision with the Citroen car, driven legally from the opposite direction by a female driver, the accident resulting in the serious injury of the woman, who suffered traumatic injuries requiring 160-180 days of medical care for healing.
The injured person, aged 37 at the time of the accident, a single mother of a boy, stated that she was traveling towards Satu Mare, starting from Carei, around 13:30-13:35 when, reaching the footbridge located in area of the Moftinu Mic locality, noticed that a car was approaching from the opposite direction, which skidded and began to make circular movements. The injured person braked but could not avoid the collision, as the car entered his direction of travel.
Being interviewed, the driver admitted committing the act, stating that when he reached the top of the bridge over the railway, located in the area of the Moftinu Mic town, as it had started to snow, he skidded and collided with the car driven by the civilian side. The defendant stated that his car was equipped with summer tires.
The driver was sentenced, this week, to two years in prison with suspension for committing the crime of culpable bodily harm, while the insurer has to pay moral damages of 40,000 euros.
