A nurse who works in palliative care has revealed six “unimaginable” things that a person on their deathbed goes through.

Julie McFadden, 41, is a Los Angeles-based palliative care nurse who has created a social media account where she shares information to help destigmatize what it means to die and educate people with the phenomenon that no one can fake, writes the Daily Mail.

The woman posted on YouTube about her near-death experiences, admitting that before witnessing such episodes, she felt uncomfortable talking about it. Julie explained that patients who are on their deathbeds often experience moments of “terminal lucidity” or “hallucinations,” among other things.

The episodes that a person on his deathbed can go through

At the beginning of the clip in which she laid out the six things she noticed about the people she was trying to make the transition to the afterlife more comfortable, the nurse said she hadn’t seen them while working in a normal hospital at intensive therapy. Julie submitted: “There are many deathbed phenomena and I’ve seen them all. I want to be clear that this doesn’t happen to everyone, but still enough that I want to inform you about it.”

The nurse explained that the first inexplicable thing that happens in the last days of life is “terminal lucidity”. He described the phenomenon as “a burst of energy” that a patient receives on the last hundred meters. “They can have a great day, all of a sudden they’re hungry, able to walk, alert or have a good sense of direction, and then after a day or two, they’re off”Julie said, suggesting that it can be difficult for relatives to get over completely opposite episodes in a short time.

Visions are another thing that terminally ill patients can go through. Hallucinations are the most common of the six things the nurse presents. Usually these people see people who have already died.

“Number three is pretty crazy: people choose when they’re going to die. I’ve seen some extreme cases of people saying ‘tonight I’m going to die’ and that’s exactly what happened. There are times when people wait for their loved ones to come visit and then go out”explained the nurse.

Number four refers to when a person is lying in bed and gets up in a way that looks like they are trying to touch someone, give a hug or a handshake. “It’s like they see something we don’t and they’re trying to touch someone.”

The number five is an insistent, deep, attentive and fixed gaze, which often goes hand in hand with the fourth aspect.

The last thing is the one with the biggest impact, says nurse Julie, and it’s an experience that can be described like this: “Someone who is not dying feels, sees, or understands what is happening to the dying person. It is as if the dying person shares the sensations he feels.”
