The man who killed his concubine’s little girl and hid her body in a couch drawer, sentenced to 26 years in prison

Marcel Şerbuc, the man who killed his concubine’s little girl and hid her body in the chest of a sofa, was sentenced Wednesday by the Bucharest Court to 26 years in prison for aggravated murder and robbery, reports Agerpres.

The judges noted that the mother of the murdered girl, Simona Monica Iftimovici, did not want to become a civil party in the case.

On the other hand, the magistrates decided that Marcel Şerbuc should pay damages to the biological father of the little girl in the amount of 80,000 euros, and to the half-brother in the amount of 15,000 euros.

The court’s decision is not final.

On June 3, 2023, the 16th Police Department was notified by the owner of an apartment in the Capital regarding the fact that he found a plastic bag in the sofa drawer that emanates a putrid smell.

Initially, it was believed that the deceased person was a woman, but an expertise carried out at INML established that the deceased person is a 12-year-old minor, the identification taking place by comparing the genetic profile of the corpse with the genetic profile of the girl’s father.

The girl’s biological father is the one who reported the child’s disappearance at the beginning of May.

The girl lived on rent with her mother and her concubine, Ilie Marcel Şerbuc, in an apartment in the Berceni District, Sector 4 of the Capital.

A recording between the mother and the concubine appeared in the public space, in which Marcel Şerbuc would have told her that he did not want to harm the child, but he had a spontaneous conflict with her, he would have pushed her and the girl – he would have hit his head on the bathtub in the bathroom.

After the murder, the mother and her concubine left the country, the woman being spotted in Catalonia – Spain, after being confronted by her work colleagues on a farm. Later, the woman came alone to Romania, to be questioned by investigators.

Instead, her concubine was prosecuted in Europe and arrested in the Netherlands, being sent to Romania in August 2023
