As a result of the impact with the ground, three people died and three others were injured, the Valais regional police said.
Seven rescue helicopters were deployed to the area to help extract two people on board and take them to the nearest hospital.
Another person was also rescued from the helicopter and transported to the hospital for medical treatment.
However, the rescuers who arrived at the scene of the incident also found three dead people. Authorities have not released information about the victims.
Swiss authorities have opened an investigation to determine why the light utility helicopter skidded off the landing zone.
The investigation is being led by the federal prosecutor’s office together with the Swiss regional and national police.
