The Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs defeated the Paint Valley Bearcats in both games of their doubleheader on Saturday, winning by scores of 4-3 in eight innings and 13-5 in the second game at PVHS.

In game one Saturday, the Lady Mustangs won by a 4-3 score in eight innings, with the first runs of the game coming in the top of the fourth inning when LCHS took a 2-0 lead. PVHS scored one run in the bottom of the fifth, only to see LCHS take a two-run lead with a run scored in the top of the seventh.

PVHS tied the game with two runs in the bottom of the seventh, and LCHS secured the win with one run in the top of the eighth.

Lynchburg-Clay finished game one with 10 hits and committed two errors. PCHS had three hits and one error.

Sophia Michael led LCHS at 3-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI. Madison McMullen followed at 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Autumn Griffith was 2-for-4 in game one.

Jazmine Brown finished the game one win at 1-for-4 with a run and a steal. Caitlyn Collins went 1-for-4 with a double. Also for LCHS, Miranda Smith was 1-for-4 with one RBI and a double.

The Lady Mustangs also saw Reese Ruble collect a run and a steal.

In the circle, Noel Barnhill finished the game with 6.2 IP, allowing one unearned run on no hits and 12 strikeouts. She finished with 103 pitches, 63 for strikes.

Brown pitched 1.1 innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits, as she threw 31 pitches, 15 for strikes.

In game two, the Lady Mustangs won by a 13-5 score. The game saw LCHS lead 3-2 at the end of the first inning, followed by PVHS scoring two runs in the bottom of the second for a 4-3 lead.

LCHS responded with one run in the top of the third, and after LCHS outscored Paint Valley 2-1 in the fourth inning, the score was 6-5 in favor of the Lady Mustangs.

Lynchburg-Clay scored six runs in the top of the fifth and added one last run in the sixth inning for the 13-5 win.

LCHS ended the game with 11 hits and five errors. PVHS finished game two with five hits and no errors.

Brown at the plate was 2-for-4 with one run, one walk and a steal. Collins finished 2-for-4 with three runs, one RBI, one walk, two doubles and three steals.

Brya McClain was 2-for-3 with two runs, one RBI, one walk, a double and two steals.

Kami Collins finished 1-for-1 with a run, one RBI, one walk and two steals. McMullen was 1-for-3 with one run, one RBI and two walks.

Michael was 1-for-4 with a run, one RBI and a walk. Ruble finished the second game at 1-for-3 with a run, one RBI, two HBP and three steals.

The Lady Mustangs also had Rylee Turner finish 1-for-3 with a run and a walk. Griffith collected a steal for LCHS.

Brown pitched two innings, where she allowed four runs (two earned) on three hits, and she had one strikeout as she threw 59 pitches, 30 for strikes.

Barnhill pitched five innings, where she allowed one earned run on two hits, and she totaled 11 strikeouts. Barnhill threw 63 pitches, 52 for strikes.
