A portion of the ceiling of a supermarket in Bucharest collapsed, on Thursday, on top of a 70-year-old woman.

The victim was rushed to the hospital, and the store was closed. Another 10 people left the premises.

The incident occurred at the Supeco supermarket on Liviu Rebreanu street, in Sector 3.

The detached piece of ceiling is approximately two square meters.

“The victim (70-year-old woman) was taken by a medical team, in a state of consciousness, later being transported to the Pantelimon Hospital, with minor injuries. The other 10 people got out without any problems, and the store was closed,” ISU Bucharest-Ilfov reported.

UPDATE: A statement issued by Supeco states that the incident took place in the entrance area of ​​the store, above the fruit and vegetable section. The part of the detached ceiling was made of plasterboard.

The company apologizes for the incident and says it has initiated an investigation to determine its causes. It also states that the space is rented.

Regarding the victim, Supeco says that, according to the ISU, the woman suffered minor injuries, being transported to the “St. Pantelimon”, where he received medical care and is in a stable condition.
