A recent study by a Hungarian mining company revealed a real national treasure. According to experts, the Borzsony mountains could contain no less than 1,000 tons of gold and silver. The deposits could be exploited in the near future, the value of the project being estimated at 59 billion euros.
An astonishing discovery was made in Hungary! A study by the mining company Hun Mining research Development and Innovation Ltd shows that huge reserves of gold and silver are found in the Nagyirtaspuszta-Rozsabanya region, part of the Borzsony Mountains.

A study by the mining company Hun Mining research Development and Innovation Ltd shows that the Borzsony mountains in the north of the country could contain about 1,000 tons of gold and silver at a depth of 150 meters. According to the publication Origo, this figure exceeds the gold reserves of the National Bank of Hungary, which amount to 100 tons.
Hungary could start exploring this huge gold and silver deposit within five years. According to information published by Hungary Today, the Hungarian authorities have announced that the gold will be extracted through an ecological technology. Specifically, based on the results of deep drilling, the extraction of gold and silver could be carried out using washing technology. Thus, the use of cyanide, which is prohibited by the EU after the pollution of the Tisa river with cyanide from gold mines in Romania, will be eliminated in 2000.
The whole project has huge value
The entire project has an estimated value of 59 billion euros. A mining right in the concession could produce a total of 9,000 tonnes of gold and an equal amount of silver in about 42 and a half years. At the same time, the investment has the potential to provide jobs for 1,200 people.
After five years of research in the region, the technical documentation required for the new mine is now ready for the state mining authority. According to the report, this could be one of the most profitable gold and silver mines in Hungary. The concession’s mining rights will be awarded through an international auction, with the mine expected to start operating in five years.
Given the valuable resources of the area, the project could develop into one of the largest gold deposits in the world. Hungary Today writes that the investment entails significant social and economic benefits for the area through this project.
