A 13-year-old girl registered at the Piatra-Neamt School Sports Club died on Friday after she lost consciousness during training and was transported to the Emergency Reception Unit, according to information provided to Agerpres by the County School Inspectorate ( IŞJ) German.

The girl was resuscitated on the field by her teacher, then by the medical personnel who arrived on the scene, being transported to the Piatra-Neamţ Emergency Reception Unit, where she died.

“The training in which the student participated was of low intensity, as the teacher-trainer informs us, and it took place in the conditions of the preparation necessary to participate in the National Cadet Championship, from January 14, 2023. According to the information received from CSS Piatra-Neamţ, we can state that the student he had performed the periodic medical visit at the sports medicine office with which the unit has a contract and had a valid medical visa. Also, from what was reported by the athlete’s parents, she was subjected to medical investigations right at the beginning of 2023 and no medical problem incompatible with the practice of performance sports was highlighted”, said general school inspector Florentina Luca-Moise.

The police are investigating a criminal case regarding the crime of manslaughter.

“The medical crews came to the scene, the minor being transported to a medical unit, for the provision of specialized care. Unfortunately, at around 1:50 p.m., we were informed that the minor died at the medical unit where she was hospitalized,” said the spokesperson of IPJ Neamţ, sub-inspector Ramona Ciofu.

The investigators are waiting for the results of the medico-legal examination regarding the cause of death in order to continue the investigation in this case.
