With the launch of Galaxy AI and Circle to Search in January 2024, we couldn’t help but wonder what’s next for the concept of “AI on phones.” Now we begin to learn the first clues, which come from Samsung herself.
During the AI Semiconductor Forum event, Samsung officially confirmed the development of the second generation of Google Gemini Nano. This LLM will be found on the Galaxy S25 in 2025. Google Gemini Nano is an AI model used for on-device AI functions on the Galaxy S24, S24+ and S24 Ultra. It also recently appeared on the S23 series, through the update to One UI 6.1.
It will soon arrive on the Galaxy S22, it seems. A South Korean site writes that the executive director Cho Cheol-min, in charge of the System LSI section at Samsung Electronics had some comments regarding the plans related to Google Gemini Nano 2 and the S25 generation. Even Google hasn’t given details about the Nano’s successor.
It seems that this collaboration between Samsung and Google will continue without problems. Gemini Nano 2 will bring improvements in voice recognition, image processing and will intuit what the user is going to do, especially in the area of productivity.
