They have become quite rare press trip-s they can go to, but an invitation to Marrakech at the invitation of Motorola was hard to refuse. Not only this fantastic space attracted me, but also the curiosity to find out what Motorola will impress me with. It was my first cell phone in the 90s, a huge thing with a big antenna. Back then I saw it as very small and totally exclusive! I tried to find a picture of myself using that phone, but I quickly realized that at the time I was in ‘prehistory’, meaning before the digital cameras that every smartphone has today, the picture would have to have been taken with an analog device, so there’s little chance of something like that happening. We were before Facebook, before Instagram, in the days of jeans slim fit, of those crop tops, A slip dresses, of Kate Moss… things that today have a part of a comeback in fashion, right? Just like, by the way, it’s been happening with Motorola for a few years now.

The first night I spent in the Agafay desert, in an oasis of peace and calm, in a Bedouin camp. It wasn’t my first time in Morocco or around this very special population, but it was my first time sleeping in a Bedouin tent, so the experience was going to be all the more memorable. I was at an event preview which caused me throughout it to be in agreement of non-disclosure: we were the first in the world to witness these launches right there, under the stars of the desert, surrounded by the Atlas mountains that loomed on the horizon, in a film-like setting, a glimmer of twilight that you only find in Morocco, while after nightfall the light came only from torches. The new Motorola Edge 50 series was launched, i.e. Motorola Edge 50 Pro and Motorola Edge 50 Ultra, phones that I had the opportunity to use, film and take pictures with throughout these days, so I have already formed some impressions. I later realized that the organizers made our program considering some very important and unique functions that phones have, about which I will tell you next.

The Smart Stabilization feature, for example, that phones have Motorola Edge 50 Pro and the Edge 50 Ultra we tested on the roughest desert roads on the way to the hot air balloons we took off with (we also got some great footage of the convoy of over 30 off-road vehicles shrouded in cloud of reddish sand dust). This feature uses artificial intelligence to adapt the stabilization power based on the speed and intensity of your movements. If you want to appear in the footage, you can pause the action in the video clip by quickly switching to the selfie camera! Al Smart Stabilization is also available for the 50MP front camera.

Zoom was ultra tested from the hot air balloon I was telling you about. It was also a first for me here, and obviously I couldn’t stop filming, taking pictures and… taking selfies. I was happy with all the chapters, but with the zoom, with the quality of the photos taken with the zoom, I was even more than that, because I have never seen this quality in the details of the images. In addition, I also used it as binoculars to see various things from the balloon that were barely visible to the naked eye.

And the visits I made to the Medina, the famous colorful and so vibrant streets, were perfect to test the colors in the photos and I liked that they were accurately reproduced, whether it was the standard image variants or portrait.

There is another feature called STYLE SYNC that caught my eye, like any fashionista I imagine. With Al features of the Motorola Edge 50 series you customize your phone theme to turn your device into an extension of your personal style, meaning you can make your phone wallpaper match the outfit you’re wearing.

The design of the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra smartphone is made of soft and pleasant to the touch vegan leather. There is also a natural wood casing, imbued with a subtle wood aroma that still lingers. It’s designed to fit the contours of your hand, with the screen having a bezel infinity which blends seamlessly with a slim frame. At the same time, Motorola continues its three-year partnership with Pantone, and now there are three color variants, including Peach Fuzz, Pantone’s color of the year. I also particularly liked the Moonlight Pearl variant of the Motorola Edge Pro, with an elegant pearl finish, handcrafted in Italy in collaboration with Mazzucchelli.

Oh, and not to forget the more practical qualities, which I bump into all the time: the first is that you can charge the phone for the whole day in just four minutes, and the second – even if you drop it in water, you don’t, it has underwater protection!

If you haven’t visited Marrakech yet, I advise you to, it’s a place unlike anything you’ve seen before. And take a Motorola Edge 50 with you, because you need memories too!
