What will be the first phones equipped with the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor

Yogesh Brar recently announced on the X platform (formerly Twitter) that the first devices equipped with the new generation Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor will be launched in October 2024, and the details open up interesting prospects for the mobile phone market.

Among the first phones that could be equipped with this processor are the Xiaomi 15 series models, continuing the Xiaomi tradition of introducing the first devices with the new Qualcomm chipsets, the Xiaomi 14 series being the first equipped with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

Also, other devices that could benefit from the new processor are the OnePlus 13 and the iQOO 13, both part of the BBK Electronics group. It should be noted that the iQOO 13 is not yet available on the European market, which could limit consumer access to this technology, writes GSM Arena.

When will the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 be released

According to the source, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor, Qualcomm’s first on 3nm, will be completed in April and reach manufacturers by June, to start mass production in September. The new processor generation will have a frequency exceeding 4GHz and will include versions that allow overclocking, although this will require more capacitive batteries of around 5500mAh to handle the increased power consumption.

In the tech industry there are a lot of comparisons between Apple and Snapdragon processors. Thus, Snapdragon and Mediatek are under pressure to continuously innovate to provide powerful and efficient processors.
