Samsung users report slow loading speeds after updating to OneUI 6.1

OneUI 6.1 proved to be an important software release for Samsung, being the one that added Galaxy AI to the Galaxy S24 series, and now doing the same to the S23 and 2023 foldable models. While this is mostly beneficial, while adding new features and fixing older issues, it also seems to have introduced some issues for certain device models. Galaxy S23 and Flip/Fold5 users report that the charging speed decreased after the last update

Affected users report on Samsung’s official forum that charging speeds have been limited to 15W, which is about 40% slower than the promised 25W speed. Regardless of the power of the charger used, the phone does not draw more than 15W from the outlet. But it’s not a coincidence or just a single affected model. Complaining users are using anything from the Galaxy Fold5 to the Galaxy S23.

At the moment, Samsung has not acknowledged this problem, but it will probably be addressed in the next update. Galaxy Tab S9 tablets do not appear to be affected.

The good news is that those who were affected by the burn-in issue on devices that updated to OneUI 6.0 in the fall should definitely upgrade to 6.1 as soon as possible. This update reintroduces screen protection methods that were missing on the previous software version, such as moving a few pixels of the entire interface at regular intervals, or refreshing pixels when the screen is not in use.

The S23 and the 5 Series Fold and Flip are now on par with the Galaxy S24 series in terms of AI capabilities. Circle to Search, text summaries, translations and all the other capabilities that were presented at the launch of the new flagships are now also found on last year’s devices. Samsung is now also exploring the possibility of adding at least some of these functions to the S22 series.
