Manchester United were beaten 4-0 away by Crystal Palace and are in danger of missing out on the European Cup places in the Premier League.

The hosts opened the scoring quickly, after only 12 minutes. Daniel Munoz served Michael Olise on the edge of the box, and the Frenchman finished with a low shot to the long corner, which Onana had no chance to intervene.

Olise reached 8 goals in this Premier League season, which became the most prolific of his career. This in the conditions where he started from the first minute in only 12 games.

Palace doubled their lead 5 minutes before the break following a quick counter-attack. Chris Richards took care of Jean-Philippe Mateta, who was in a 1 on 1 duel with Jonny Evans. The United defender was simply dribbled in and the Frenchman scored with a powerful shot into the short corner.

Mateta has scored in each of his first 6 home games since Oliver Glasner has been on the Palace bench, becoming the first player to do so in the Premier League since Alan Shearer under Kevin Keegan (1996-97).

Towards the end of the first half, the image of the evening in the Premier League also appeared. A Manchester United supporter was caught out in the stands, disappointed by the result on the table.

Just over 10 minutes after the break, Crystal Palace made it an incredible 3-0. Hughes sent it over the opposing defense for Munoz, who turned in front of goal for Tyrick Mitchell to finish.

In the 67th minute, Daniel Munoz stole the ball from Casemiro near the box and passed it perfectly to Michael Olise, who sent a shot under the bar and made it 4-0.

“Manchester United were torn apart by Crystal Palace”the BBC noted.

The team coached by Erik ten Hag reached 81 goals conceded in all competitions, something that had not been achieved in 47 years, since the 1976-1977 season. It ended 4-0 for Palace, and United remain 2 points off the 6th place, the last one leading to Europe, occupied by Newcastle.
