It’s hot debate on the internet about the manela that has gone mad on the planet. “Made in Romania”, which was heard in the locker room of the Inter Milan team when the team won the Italian championship, is at the center of a huge controversy.
The song is almost 20 years old since it was composed by Marius Moga and Smiley, but the version in which it became famous is by the manel player Ionuţ Cercel, who would not have had the composers’ consent to take it over and sing it.
The song that made the planet crazy was released in 2007 by Simplu, under the name “Mister Originality”, the composers being Marius Moga and Smiley. A year later, Loredana made a remake of the song, renamed it Made in Romania, having the consent of the composers to take it over.
Shortly after, the son of the well-known manelist Petrica Cercel, Ionut Cercel, who was only a child at the time, took over the song, without the consent of the composers, and released his own version. Marius Moga seemed indifferent, at that moment, stating that
“I was not asked for permission, but I have nothing to do with them. I would have been upset if a pop-dance colleague had plagiarized a composition of mine”, Marius Moga said in 2008, according to CANCAN.
The song that drove the planet crazy
It happened about 15 years ago, and the scandal died down pretty quickly. Until, at the beginning of this year, the brothers Kadîr and Berdan Kalin, known on social networks, especially on TikTok, discovered Ionuţ Cercel’s version and began to create videos in which they dance to this song, in various poses and corners of the world .
The Kalin brothers are from Turkey, as is Hakan Çalhanoğlu, the Inter midfielder. He brought the song to the dressing room and made Ionuţ Cercel famous again.
“The Internationale Milano football team celebrated winning the title, I don’t even know exactly, because I don’t really have anything with football, I’m with music and that’s all, but it’s a great joy because I know how big this Internationale Milano team is”, is the message sent by Ionuț Cercel.
“Made in Romania” is now the hit of the moment on TikTok, there are thousands of clips, with hundreds of millions of views, in which the song is used as background sound.
