Dmitry Medvedev again threatened nuclear strikes against Western capitals on Monday, referring to new statements by French President Macron, who said he would send troops to Ukraine, Business Insider reports.
Putin’s former Kremlin deputy said Ukraine was a “non-existent country” and called Western leaders “bastards”.
“The chorus of irresponsible bastards from the Western elite, who are calling for their troops to be sent to a non-existent country, is expanding,” Medvedev wrote in a message on social media.
The former deputy referred to leaders and politicians in the US, the UK, France, the Baltic countries and Poland, who have also referred to the possibility of sending troops on the ground to Ukraine to help the invaded country fight against the aggressor state.
Medvedev also said that the deployment of NATO troops in Ukraine would mean the alliance’s direct involvement in the war and that it would lead to a “Russian response outside Ukraine’s borders.”
“In that case, none of them will be able to hide either on Capitol Hill, or in the Elysee Palace, or in Downing Street. It will be a global catastrophe,” Medvedev added.
Medvedev said that the reason why Russia is conducting nuclear military exercises with Belarus is one of “retaliation” against the West after “recent threats” from the West.
